Welcome to Otherwise Therapy

About Me

My name is Amanda, I’m a white, queer, non-binary Seattle native. I live with my partner Mac and our dog, Maggie in Queen Anne. As a CODA (Child Of a Deaf Adult) and native ASL speaker, my upbringing among visible and invisible disabilities shaped my belief in authentic self-expression, beyond societal validation. I’m committed to helping others live authentically and understand their truth.

My Approach

I combine my background in existential philosophy and expressive movement with training in AEDP (Accelerated Experimental-Dynamic Psychotherapy), exposure therapy, and mindfulness. This combination helps me take a client centered approach in processing trauma, grief, existential crises, and health anxiety. Often reducing symptoms such as anxiety, rumination, compulsive behaviors, burnout, depression, and loneliness. Together, we explore unspoken beliefs and emotional experiences, helping you build confidence to face reality and find peace in the present.

4 Foundations of Otherwise

  • Empowerment through Authenticity and Wholeness

  • Integrating trauma and building resilience

  • Navigating the unknown and finding meaning

  • Embracing discomfort and self-discovery

What a Session Is Like

In sessions, I endeavor to create a safe space where you can explore your deepest worries, fears and desires. Whether through mindfulness, guided imagery, art, or somatic exercises, we’ll delve into your experiences with curiosity and compassion. Our work together will help you let go of rigid ideas of right and wrong, empowering you to embrace your authentic self and set meaningful boundaries.

My Beliefs and Experiences

I believe therapy is not just about addressing symptoms, but about exploring the deeper layers of who you are and finding meaning in the unknown. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected, unsure of how to navigate their struggles. I’ve seen firsthand how transformative the healing process can be when we integrate movement, art, and play into therapy, allowing clients to reconnect with themselves in ways beyond words.
